DR. SERKAN OZBAY
Dr. Ozbay’s areas of expertise include design,
analysis and elastic tailoring of composite structures
with analytical and finite element based approaches.
He has collaborated with Prof. Erian A. Armanios,
Director of the NASA Georgia Space Grant Consortium,
in research projects involving elastic tailoring
of smart composite rotor blades, as a part of Georgia
Tech's Rotorcraft Center of Excellence Program. During
research at Georgia Tech, Dr. Ozbay developed an
optimization process for rotor blades based on simulated
annealing technique using finite element based DYMORE multibody
dynamics code and VABS cross-sectional analysis
code.
He was awarded a graduate research assistantship from 1999 to 2005 and
also served as a graduate teaching assistant from 2002 to 2005 in the
School of Aerospace Engineering. Dr. Ozbay has authored twelve technical
publications, including five peer-reviewed research papers. He
is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American
Helicopter Society (AHS), and the American Institute of Aeronautics and
Astronautics (AIAA).
